The 2026 Nissan Sentra has earned a spot on the 2026 Wards 10 Best Interiors and UX list — one of the automotive industry's most recognized honours for interior design and technology. Judges evaluated the Sentra against competitors across all price categories, and it stood out for delivering an upscale look and feel at a price point well below the industry average for new vehicles.
This marks the second time Nissan's compact sedan has taken the award. The original win came in 2020 when the then-new Sentra generation launched. With the all-new 2026 model, Nissan's design team set out to raise the bar on what the previous Sentra had established — and the Wards panel's verdict confirms they did. The recognition also makes it the fourth time in seven years that a Nissan vehicle has received this distinction, following the Nissan ARIYA in 2023 and the Nissan Kicks in 2025.
What Wards Judges Said
Dave Zoia, a Wards 10 Best Interiors and UX judge, summed up the panel's view directly: "With the average price of a new vehicle topping $50K, you shouldn't expect too much in something just north of $30K. But the Nissan Sentra defies expectations. The test car's stylish, generously sized infotainment screen and digital gauge cluster had an upscale look and feel. It also came equipped with all the key tech features most buyers would want — but not anticipate at this price, like adaptive cruise control. The bottom line: You can still get a heck of a lot for relatively little with the Sentra."
The Wards competition evaluates vehicle interiors on seven criteria: design and aesthetics, comfort, materials, fit-and-finish, connectivity and infotainment, displays and controls, and driver assistance content and value. The Sentra earned the recognition across that full range — not just on tech, but on how the entire cabin comes together.
What Makes the 2026 Sentra's Interior Stand Out
The 2026 Sentra's cabin was built around a horizontal design theme with available dual 12.3-inch displays — one for the driver instrument cluster and one for the infotainment touchscreen. The new infotainment display is two times brighter than the outgoing model, which makes a real difference when reading the screen under direct sunlight on Highway 85 or King Street in Waterloo.
The dashboard features a touch-sensitive climate control panel, which contributes to the clean, uncluttered look. Three rectangular elements reference the signature circular vents of the previous generation — a nod to Sentra's history without repeating it. Soft door touchpoints and carefully selected materials throughout the cabin give it a more substantial feel than the price tag suggests.
- Available dual 12.3-inch displays (driver meter + infotainment)
- Touch-sensitive climate panel with a clean dashboard layout
- 2x brighter infotainment screen vs. the outgoing Sentra
- Soft door touchpoints and quality-tested interior materials
Technology Inside the Cabin

The standard 12.3-inch touchscreen includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on the base S grade, with wireless functionality added from the SV grade upward. Three USB-C ports are standard across the lineup — two at the front and one in the rear — and the SR grade adds wireless phone charging as a Sentra-first feature.
On the SR Premium package, an eight-speaker Bose Premium audio system delivers strong sound throughout the cabin. A power tilt/slide sunroof, ambient lighting with 64 colour options, and a heated steering wheel are available higher up the lineup.
From the SV grade, the Sentra also gains a 12.3-inch enhanced TFT driver display that replaces the standard 7-inch unit — this is part of what creates the dual-screen cockpit effect that impressed the Wards judges.
Driver Assistance That Earns the UX Recognition
The "UX" portion of the Wards award reflects the full user experience, including driver assistance technologies. The 2026 Sentra includes Intelligent Forward Collision Warning as standard across all grades — a feature that is not standard on all compact sedans in its class. ProPILOT Assist, Blind Spot Intervention, and Nissan Safety Shield 360 are available on higher grades, with the full safety suite making the Sentra one of the most driver-assist-equipped sedans at its price point.
The IIHS has recognized the 2026 Sentra with a TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating — its highest distinction — earned through top marks in crash testing, headlight performance, and driver assistance system evaluation.
Sentra S, SV, and SR: Value Across the Lineup
The Sentra is offered in three grades at Waterloo Nissan, starting at CA$25,268 MSRP for the S. Each grade builds on the last with additional tech and comfort features, and the award-winning cabin quality carries through the entire lineup — not just the top trim.
